WINTER WEATHER INFORMATION
Posted Saturday, January 13, 2024
Weather forecasts predict temperatures will drop below freezing starting Sunday, January 14, 2024, and last through Tuesday, January 16, 2024. The Woodlands Township would like to remind residents to stay weather-aware and monitor updates provided by the National Weather Service.

Protect the four “Ps” of winter weather safety:

  • PEOPLE: Keep your family warm and check on any elderly family or neighbors that may need extra blankets, winterizing their homes or a warm place to stay.
  • PETS: Dogs and cats get cold too. Bring them inside at night to keep them healthy and safe.
  • PLANTS: Either cover plants to keep them warm at night or bring them inside so they can flourish.
  • PIPES: Cover exposed pipes to prevent freezing and breaks.

Heating Safety
Heating is a leading cause of US home fires and home fire injuries and the third leading cause of home fire deaths. Help keep your family safe by providing at least three feet of space from all heating equipment, testing your smoke alarms, and protecting yourself from carbon monoxide poisoning by installing a battery-operated CO detector. Never use generators, grills, camp stoves or similar devices indoors.

Power Outages
Monitor power outages in our area by following Entergy and CenterPoint online.

Water Service Providers
Contact your MUD or Woodlands Water for information on how to turn off water to your home in case of a busted pipe.

Waterline breaks will be monitored by the San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA).

Road Conditions
Houston TranStar and Northstar Montgomery County will provide updates to road conditions throughout the Greater Houston region. Montgomery County, Harris County and TxDOT will be monitoring road conditions.

The Woodlands Transit
The Woodlands Township Transportation Department is actively monitoring the inclement weather and plans to operate normally. Please note that the midday runs on Monday, January 15, 2024, may be impacted by parade routes in downtown/midtown districts. Plan accordingly and follow this page for weather related updates.

Facility Closures
The Woodlands Township offices will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2024, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Please note that there will be no disruption to trash and recycling collection. The Woodlands Express and Town Center Trolleys will operate as usual. Texas TreeVentures, Riva Row Boat House and both Recreation Centers will be closed.
