THE WOODLANDS, TX – Already, the skies are clearing from the recent rain droplets that coated our Woodlands area roads. As the cloud coverage plummets, that big bright ball in the sky will warm things up to the low 60s, and until the mercury turns around and things get cooler at around 4 o’clock this afternoon, the winds will be gusting up to 12 miles per hour. As we segue into evening, winds will die down and temps will keep dropping until they hit the low 40s. Overnight will be a still, quiet night with lots of stars in the sky.

A dry start to the week will end up decidedly wet

Tuesday will spend most of its daylight hours under bright, mainly cloudless skies, and a rising pressure front will help get the temperature all the way up to 70. After sunset, however, clouds will move in and the pressure will drop, swiftly bringing the temperatures back down into the lower 40s, but this time with half the stars blotted out by clouds.

On Wednesday, it will be partly cloudy all day, with a rising dew point helping to nudge the thermometer up to about 72 for a high, but made to feel cooler by the returning spiking winds. The rising dew point, dropping pressure, and cloudier skies will all work together to keep the overnight low in the 50s.

You’ll wake up Thursday morning to greyer skies that will only get darker as they fill with rain. The showers coming early afternoon will only drop about a fifth of an inch of rain, so there’s no danger of flooding but plenty of smeared windshields. While the chances of rain will peak at around lunchtime, they won’t go away altogether for at least another 24 hours. Expect another high in the low 70s and a low at a warm 60.

The work week will end with a continuation of rains, and the total cloud cover will help to make it feel dank and damp and uncomfortably moist as the high gets back up to 73. Once again, the peak of the rain will hit around lunchtime, but the wet stuff won’t completely disappear for quite a while.

As we head into the weekend, expect warm and wet, but there could be a last gasp of winter headed our way next week…

Stay tuned to Woodlands Online for our Weekend Weather report coming on Friday.
