THE WOODLANDS, TX – South Montgomery County Fire Department announced that one of its local heroes, firefighter Corby McKenzie, passed away recently from occupational cancer. The department took to social media to express their loss:

"With profound sorrow, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of one of our beloved firefighters, Corby McKenzie. Today, we honor the memory of a true hero who valiantly fought fires and battled through life's challenges with unmatched courage and resilience.

Corby exemplified bravery in the face of danger and demonstrated incredible strength throughout his battle with occupational cancer. Despite his formidable adversary, Corby remained steadfast, never wavering in his faith and commitment to duty or determination to overcome every obstacle. His unwavering courage in the face of adversity inspired us all and reminded us of the true meaning of heroism.

In this time of mourning, let us extend our deepest condolences to Corby's family, friends, and colleagues.
