THE WOODLANDS, TX – Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough recently announced his intention to run for a third term in his position as head of Commissioners Court. Recently, Woodlands Online had the opportunity to talk to him about his decision.

“We’ve accomplished so many good things here in the county. It’s unbelievable. But there’s still much to do. It’s a different Commissioners Court than what it was seven years ago, it really is. And now with the addition of our new sheriff, Wesley Doolittle, and the changes he’s making, there’s a new shift occurring,” he told Woodlands Online

Beyond the change in dynamic in the government and law enforcement, Keough also cites the business climate and community in general as reasons for his renewed campaign.

“What has taken place in the county in general with its growth, and the cooperation between the county and local businesses and the constituents, and the changes that have been made in various places such as the library and animal shelter… Well, these things are having a tremendous impact, but we have to see those things through. And so I decided that I need to do this and be a part of it. I believe I’m supposed to, and that God wants me to do it, and so I’m doing it.”

First elected in 2018, Keough is the 41st County Judge of Montgomery County. Prior to this position, he served in the Texas House of Representatives representing House District 15 in the 84th and 85th sessions of the Texas Legislature. He also serves as the Chairman of the Montgomery County Public Health District, as a Director of The Woodlands Road Utility District No. 1, as a member of the Houston-Galveston Area Council Board of Directors, and a member of the Houston-Galveston Metropolitan Planning Organization also known as the Transportation Policy Council.
