Grand Oaks HS principal ‘Buddy’ Bush follows Curtis Null to Lake Travis ISD

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Earlier this month, Conroe Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Curtis Null was announced as the ‘last remaining finalist’ for consideration for the superintendent position at Lake Travis ISD in the Austin area. After a mandatory 21-day waiting period, Dr. Null was officially appointed as the new LTISD superintendent by unanimous vote of the board on May 22.
Today, that same school board announced that James ‘Buddy’ Bush, the principal of Grand Oaks High School, has been named as the new principal of Lake Travis High School. According to an official statement by Dr. Steve Flores, interim superintendent at LTISD:
Following a comprehensive search that drew 40 highly-qualified applicants from across the state and beyond, a committee of teachers, administrators, and parents carefully reviewed and interviewed a strong pool of candidates. After a rigorous selection process, it was clear that Mr. Bush’s leadership, experience, and student-centered vision made him the ideal choice to lead Lake Travis High School into its next chapter.
“Mr. Bush brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to student success,” said Dr. Null. “Most recently, Mr. Bush served as principal of Grand Oaks High School in Spring, where he led a rapidly-growing 6A campus of 3,900 students to academic gains, increased Advanced Placement participation, and earned statewide recognition for both academics and extracurricular excellence. Under his leadership, Grand Oaks rose steadily in UIL Lone Star Cup rankings and achieved both AP Silver Honor Roll and AP Access Awards.”
According to the statement by Dr. Flores, We are excited to welcome Mr. Bush to the Cavalier family and look forward to the leadership, enthusiasm, and vision he will bring to Lake Travis High School.
