THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF) awarded a grant to The Woodlands Christian Academy (TWCA) to enhance its fine arts programs, supporting both summer enrichment opportunities and upcoming professional development for local arts educators.

Over the summer, MCCF funding played a pivotal role in TWCA’s RISE Summer Camps, which offered music, visual arts, and theatre experiences for students of all ages. The grant provided professional-grade supplies, guest artist instruction, and expanded programming.

One highlight of the summer was the RISE Theatre/Film Camp, led by Palvin Williams, where students explored filmmaking through the lens of the Star Wars saga. Campers learned how key elements of the franchise were created and then applied those techniques to produce films of their own. Additional arts camps included Crafty Creations and Art Masters for Little Picassos, led by Julie Warner, which offered younger students hands-on opportunities to create original works.

“From stage lighting for the final showcase to specialized materials for digital art and ceramics, the grant made a tangible difference in every camp,” TWCA Director of Fine Arts Phil Sweger shared.

Looking ahead, the generous grant from the Montgomery County Community Foundation will also fund the Community Arts Teachers Professional Development Program this Fall, which will focus on equipping teachers and arts leaders with training in stage and film audition techniques. This program is designed for educators with limited experience, empowering them with tools to guide students more effectively in their creative growth.
