THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Township has announced its annual community competition, the Fall Sweep, starting October 1 and lasting the entire month. This initiative invites residents, families, neighbors, coworkers and community groups to come together for a shared mission – picking up litter and protecting the natural beauty of our parks, pathways and neighborhoods. Whether you participate for a single day or make it a recurring activity throughout the month, every effort makes a difference.

To take part in this event, simply follow a few simple steps:

  • Plan your cleanup. Gather your coworkers, family and friends and get ready for a day of community beautification.
  • Pick your date and location of choice within our community. If desired, complete a litter equipment request to borrow litter grabbers, vests, gloves and trash bags. The online request form can be found at us.openforms.com/Form/32db7cd9-9705-4eb0-891c-ff7b6d0557d3.
  • Sign your waiver. Each participant must fill out a waiver to participate in this community volunteering opportunity. The online waiver can be found at us.openforms.com/Form/24332363-ffea-4959-8175-99e4f7448d99.
  • Conduct your cleanup. Clean up litter along pathways and in the tree lines. Dispose of full bags at home or in a park trash can. Tie your trash bags tightly to protect sanitation workers and avoid overstuffing park trash cans.
  • Share your success! Submit a litter cleanup report at bit.ly/FallSweepTWT with your estimated litter totals and cleanup photos. Groups may submit multiple cleanups throughout the month of October.

At the end of the month, groups with the highest total volume of litter removed will be recognized with a plaque and press release recognizing their effort. Multiple winners will be chosen based on group size, with categories for individual, 2 to 10, 10 to 20, and 20 and above.

Participants may choose their own cleanup locations. Parks, pathways and green spaces by businesses always need cleaning. Pay attention to tree lines to spot litter hiding under leaves and brush.
