Tomorrow’s starts shined today at The Woodlands Christian Academy’s talent show
THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Christian Academy showed us the future the other night, and that future is filled with young stars waiting to make their mark on the world. The academy’s Lower School Talent Show featured dozens of young students in grades pre-K through 4 showcasing their abilities to a packed auditorium on campus.
Bookended by the school’s Honor Choir, the event – themed “How Far I’ll Go” – was replete with songs, dances, piano recitals, and even martial arts exhibitions. While some of the acts involved group work including adults – such as Sophia Collins’ “Spy Dance” duet – for the most part these preadolescent virtuosos regaled the audience (consisting of hundreds of family members, academy staff, and more) one at a time, overcoming youth and nerves to present a star-studded evening of entertainment.
The Woodlands Christian Academy prides itself on its arts program. According to its mission statement, the school “believes that God has shared His divine gift of creative artistry for the benefit of each child; that the Fine Arts are an integral part of a student’s well-rounded education and provide a powerful opportunity to glorify God. The goal of [its] Fine Arts Program is to prepare students for the 21st century by educating each student in creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication skills; empowering each student to discern and express Truth, faith, beauty, meaning and purpose through the arts; equipping each student with the skills to attain proficiency and pursue excellence in their field; and inspiring each student to explore ways to integrate the Fine Arts with other disciplines.”
With a strong slate of visual and performing arts, the program is a must-see for academy parents and members of the arts-loving community in general. Upcoming spotlight events include the Crazy Camp Musical and Fine Arts Middle School / High School Dance Concert – both taking place in April – and the Fine Arts Extravaganza occurring in May. Recent productions have included Guys and Dolls, Newsies, and The Lion King.
