Family Promise Celebrates 25 Years of Transforming Lives and Looks Ahead to an Even Bigger Year
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- On February 13th, Family Promise of Montgomery County marked a powerful milestone as 236 community members gathered at Margaritaville on Lake Conroe to celebrate 25 years of serving families with children out of the crisis of homelessness. The anniversary celebration honored a legacy of compassion, partnership, and measurable impact while building excitement for an even stronger year ahead.
Since its founding, Family Promise has served 641 families, including 1,026 children. Over the past 25 years, the organization has provided 73,113 bed nights and 228,754 meals to families facing housing instability. Through 644 life skills classes and 449 homelessness prevention interventions, parents have gained tools to secure employment, manage finances, and build long-term stability for their children.
The evening reflected not only on these milestones but on the leadership that has sustained the mission. Executive Director Marilyn Kasmiersky was recognized for her incredible and faithful service to the organization and to the Montgomery County community. Her steady leadership, compassion for families, and unwavering commitment have shaped Family Promise into a trusted lifeline for parents and children in crisis.
The celebration was led by event co-chairs Brittney Moss and Kristin Carter, whose vision and dedication brought the 25th anniversary to life. Their leadership helped create an inspiring evening that honored the past while energizing supporters for the future.
“This celebration was a reflection of what makes Montgomery County so special,” said Brittney Moss and Kristin Carter. “When businesses, churches, volunteers, and neighbors unite around a shared mission, families gain the support, dignity, and practical resources they need to rebuild their lives. We are honored to help lead this milestone year and excited about what the next 25 years will bring.”
This year’s celebration also recognized outstanding community partners:
∙ Corporate Partner of the Year: Texas Tissue Converting
∙ Non-Profit Partner of the Year: Keep Us Fed
∙ Volunteer Group of the Year: Conroe Cotillion
∙ Faith Partner of the Year: The Church at Montgomery
∙ Heart of Service Award: Buddy Kellum
∙ Legacy Impact Partner: Cowboy Kia
Each honoree represents the collaborative spirit that defines Family Promise. Their investment of time, resources, and heart ensures that families have access to shelter, meals, case management, and prevention services when they need them most.
As Family Promise enters this next season, momentum continues to grow. With rising housing costs and increasing need across the region, the mission remains urgent. The organization is expanding prevention efforts, strengthening partnerships, and preparing for an even larger community celebration next year.
“This anniversary reminds us what is possible when a community chooses to stand together,” said Director Marilyn Kasmiersky. “Twenty-five years is a milestone. The next chapter will be even more impactful.”
