The Woodlands Arts Council announces new ‘Heart of Glass’ exhibit, opening reception

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Arts Council has announced a new exhibition at its gallery location, where art lovers can discover the beauty of glass art in Heart of Glass, curated by Annette Palmer and created by the Moore-Brown family, to whom glass is more than a medium; it’s a shared artistic language passed through generations.

United by a deep commitment to the material, each of the artists brings a distinct perspective to their practice. Michael Kerry Brown explores the expressive possibilities of molten glass through form, while Sally Pennington Moore investigates the intersections of science and art. Their son, Patrick Kerry Brown, draws on themes of mental health and music, using glassmaking as both a grounding practice and a powerful means of expression.

The exhibit opened August 11 and runs through October 8. Guests are invited to experience the remarkable ways each artist interprets the medium of glass, from expressive sculptural forms and the intersection of science and art to deeply personal works while discovering the creative bond that unites them.

“These beautifully crafted works are a testament to the creative strength of family. They reveal a household working in harmony, while allowing each artist’s unique voice to resonate with clarity,” said Palmer.

Additionally, the council is hosting an opening reception Thursday, September 17 at 6:00 p.m. at the gallery, which is located at 9450 Grogans Mill Road, suite 160 in The Woodlands. Attendees can look forward to enjoying an evening of art, conversation, and community as the council celebrates this family of artists and their enduring commitment to innovation, education, and the transformative possibilities of glass.
