Is your AT&T phone service out?

AT&T has reported that tens of thousands of customers are without cellular phone service; newer models of iPhone have automatically been placed in "SOS" mode, meaning that, while normal phone service is disrupted, you can still dial 911 and emergency services. Older models of iPhones and non-Apple products won't show the "SOS" icon but instead show "out of range" alerts.
While all aspects of phone service are currently out for these people -- including texting, messaging, phone calling, and Internet usage -- you an still use many of these when connected to a wifi signal.
