Educator Spotlight: Ms. Zantasia
Our teachers are the heart of Ivybrook Academy - The Woodlands Campus, and today we're proud to spotlight one truly special educator, Ms. Zantasia Song! Known lovingly as Ms. Z, she brings warmth, positivity, and intention into every classroom moment. Her impact is felt daily by students, families, and fellow staff members alike.
Ms Z didn't originally plan to go into early childhood education. She first considered becoming a pediatrician or child psychologist, but ultimately realized her heart belonged in the classroom. Drawn to children and their ever-changing personalities, she found her calling in early education – where she feels energized, inspired, and certain this is her future.
Her journey began through an early childhood education program at College Park High School, where she developed lesson plans, completed practicum work at David Elementary, and reflected on her teaching outcomes. She is now studying at the University of Houston, preparing to complete her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Through her studies, she has gained cultural awareness and practical strategies for supporting bilingual learners and breaking language barriers through visuals, repetition, and connection.
Ms. Z fully embodies the culture of Ivybrook Academy by meeting children where they are developmentally. She believes in daily affirmations, encouragement, and empowering children to “do it themselves.” Her classroom is filled with positive reinforcement and confidence-building moments that lead children to proudly say, “Look what I can do!”
One of her most memorable moments? A pair of sassy three-year-old twins she constantly mixed up – eventually resorting to calling out, “Twins, come here!” She treasures the unexpected, funny, and joy-filled moments children bring each day.
Looking ahead, Ms. Z hopes to grow into a school principal. She wants to experience every role in education so that one day she can lead with empathy and confidently say, “I’ve been in your shoes.”
Outside of school, Ms. Z is outgoing, creative, and family-oriented. She loves music, coloring, making “forever flowers,” and spending time with her close-knit family – whom she proudly represents as the first in her family to attend college.
Her advice to new educators: Learn your students. Take your time. If today didn’t go as planned, try again tomorrow.
