Baseball playoffs: Oak Ridge, College Park fall
The 2013 seasons have come to a close for both the Oak Ridge High School baseball team as well as the College Park High School baseball team. Both were defeated on Saturday in deciding games of their respective best-of-three bi-district playoff series.
The Oak Ridge War Eagles (20-12) dropped an 8-3 decision to Kingwood at New Caney High School while the College Park Cavaliers (16-19-1) fell 14-2 at District 13-5A champion Klein Collins.
Kingwood scored seven runs in the second inning to defeat Oak Ridge. The War Eagles outhit the Mustangs 7-4. Brandon Navarro had two hits for Oak Ridge and Luken Baker doubled and drove in two runs. Joey Barrile added a hit and an RBI and Alex Walker, Zach Rollins and Riley McKnight rounded out the hit total with one apiece.
Jeff Sitarski belted a two-run homer to produce College Park’s runs, but Klein Collins scored in every inning to advance. Nate Fisbeck doubled and Tyler Mortenson added two hits for the Cavaliers.
