THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Looking to gain the competitive edge in the workplace? The Woodlands LearningRx advises adults to exercise their brains.

Owner and director Kim Bellini said the results of the center offers customized one-on-one training programs for individuals who want to improve performance in the workplace.

The Woodlands LearningRx also offers a “Brain Booster” training program for business professionals. The mental workout is designed to maintain cognitive skills that determine how information is processed.

“Strong cognitive skills are essential for adults who are trying to reach their potential in the workplace,” Bellini said. “Mental exercise will help you perform better and stand out at the office.”

She said the skills required in a competitive market include:

Auditory processing -- Reading and writing in some form are a vital component of most jobs. Auditory processing is the ability to perceive, analyze and conceptualize what is heard.

“Strong auditory skills are a necessity to be able to listen, take-in and translate to produce a comprehendible final product,” Bellini said.

Attention – A lot of focus is now given to children and teens with ADD and ADHD – but weak attention skills are a factor for many working adults as well.

“We all struggle with being attentive – learning to focus is a key element to being productive in the workplace,” Bellini explained.

Memory/retention -- Many would-be retirees are staying at their jobs longer. Without sharpening memory skills, older workers could face tough competition with younger brains who tend to have stronger memory skills.

“Memory can be reinforced by repetition – writing or speaking clients’ names, appointments or meetings can be beneficial,” Bellini said.

Processing speed -- Ever noticed how some people can complete a task in half the time of their co-workers? The faster employee most likely has exceptional processing speed, or the rate at which the brain handles information.

“Anyone can improve processing speed with repetition and practice,” Bellini said. “By consistently practicing the techniques the Brain Booster program offers, adults can strengthen their skills.”

An hour of intensive workout with a personal brain trainer has been shown to make a difference, Bellini said.

Adult students commit to 12 to 24 sessions – and appointments can be made at their convenience.

“You can sharpen your cognitive skills at your own pace,” Bellini said. “And a stronger brain could translate to a higher income, better job retention, career advancement and a higher quality of life.”

Located at 4840 West Panther Creek, Suite 205 in The Woodlands, the center offers one-on-one brain-training programs for clients of all ages, including programs that enhance students’ ability to learn, read and succeed in a broad range of academic and work-related challenges, as well as programs for senior citizens who want to stay sharp and improve their quality of life.
