Connor Binney, Ryan Billig and The Woodlands Highlander lacrosse team disposed of playoff contending Houston Christian, 16-4 at the Mustang Lacrosse and Soccer Complex in Houston Tuesday night.

Binney went off for three goals and added an assist While Billig found twine once but more importantly earned three assists with his continued unselfish play.

The Woodlands (11-2, 9-0) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter before the Mustangs were able to put one past Highlander goalie AJ Thorpe in the second quarter.

Houston Christian (7-7, 4-5) has been dealing with the injury bug all season long and only dressed 16 players for this game. To the Mustangs credit, they were able to hang around by exhibiting sheer hustle and by halftime The Woodlands met in the locker room with just a 7-3 lead.

Things opened up for the Highlanders in the second half as they were able to create some distance from Houston Christian in taking a 9-3 lead by the end of third quarter due in part to the Highlanders converting Mustang penalties into successful man-up scoring plays.

The fourth quarter was all Highlanders as Houston Christian's thin bench caught up with them and The Woodlands ran away for a 16-4 victory.

Gus Pinsoneault, Ben Perry, Matt Mahoney, Nick Rauchle and Jaymo Moore all contributed two goals. Will Skipworth and Riley Spradlin found the net once as each scored their first goal of the year.

On defense, freshman Jackson Shearer continues to turn heads in causing four turnovers. Recent call up, Carson Daspit led the Highlanders on the ground with seven GB's.

In the face-off circle, Mahoney went 6-1 and Nate Drickamer was a whopping 13-2.

Coach Keith Tintle likes what he sees in his charges...
"You know, we've had more talented teams in the past but this team gets after it 100% of the time and we are almost playing to our full potential. If we could reach our full potential, who knows...maybe we could do some damage in the playoffs. We still have two regular season games remaining and the city championship so we'll just be focusing on winning every game leading up to the playoffs."

The Woodlands next plays at Strake Jesuit on Friday night at 7:30pm.
