THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Junior Ben Perry and The Woodlands high school lacrosse team downed stubborn South District nemesis, Memorial (8-3, 5-3) 13-5 in a home tilt on Friday night increasing their district lead with three games to go in the regular season.

Perry, an attackman went off for four goals as fellow attackman, sophomore Nick Rauchle tallied two goals to go along with two assists. Netminder AJ Thorpe was a virtual wall between the pipes in shutting down the Mustangs late on several point blank shots to secure the win for The Woodlands (10-2, 8-0).

The Highlanders came out like gangbusters with five quick goals in the first quarter and it looked like it was going to be another South District cake walk but Memorial's alarm clock went off as they shut down the home team allowing no goals in the second stanza.

"I believe we became a little full of ourselves early and stopped playing our game after 12 minutes of play." Coach Keith Tintle elaborated. "Also, we are committing two many penalties which is a result of our aggressive play. We're young and we've got to learn how to play hard without being penalized so much."

Furman commit, Gus Pinsoneault scored three times as the captain continues to produce. Gavin Planeta scored twice as Ramsey McCreary and recent D-2 call-up, Nathan Drickamer lit the lamp once each. Drickamer was a welcome sight in the face-off circle as well in winning a high percentage of face-offs.

Quinn Binney and Christian Starcke gobbled up five ground balls each as the Highlanders won the battle on the ground as well. On defense, Grant Murphy caused four turnovers as he continues to be a thorn in the side of every Highlander opponent.

The Woodlands next plays on Tuesday night at 7:30 against Houston Christian at the Mustang Lacrosse and Soccer Complex in Houston.
