THE WOODLANDS, Texas - It might not be L.A., but the Texas Academy of Dance Arts, in conjunction with Cinemark Tinseltown 17, will roll out the red carpet for a local celebrity on Friday, May 15 for the opening of Pitch Perfect 2 in The Woodlands.

Frances Manzo, a Houston native and dance teacher at the Texas Academy of Dance Arts (TADA) in Oakridge, appears in the major motion picture, as a background dancer, with acting and singing parts as well.

“Contractually, I’m not allowed to say too much, but I can tell you that I’m in the group that opposes the Bellas. We had long rehearsal days in which we rehearsed our choreography for several hours, and then we went to music lessons to learn how to sing our parts. For most of us, dancing was the easy part. It was singing while dancing that was the hard part,” says Manzo.

Manzo spent several years living in L.A., but returned home to Houston last September, where she began teaching at TADA.

Manzo has an impressive resume dancing behind pop starts like Brittney Spears, Destiny’s Child and Miley Cyrus. She has also gained recognition as a singer and songwriter.

The dance studio has organized a “red carpet event” at Tinseltown on May 15th at 6:30 pm so that dance students can watch the movie with their beloved teacher.

“Miss Frances sets such a great example for our students…to work hard and dream big. We were lucky to have her on staff this year. She brings such great experience and real world knowledge of the entertainment scene,” says Kristan Ballard, owner and director of TADA.

Manzo is hanging up her hip hop boots and heading off to Harvard in the fall to pursue a law career. But, until then, she is enjoying the excitement associated with this popular comedy.

“I would definitely say that Pitch Perfect 2 is a career highlight. I’ve been in movies before, but this is probably the most well know movie that I’ve done. I have nothing but fantastic memories of it. Whenever I feel I come out of a project a better dancer and a better person, I know that it was a meaningful project for me. That’s definitely how I feel about Pitch Perfect 2.”
