THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Texas Academy of Dance Arts (TADA) is proud to announce it will be showcasing its dancers in its second annual production of The Nutcracker Ballet, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Hope – The Will Herndon Fund.

The show will take place on Sunday, Dec. 4 at the College Park High School theater, with shows at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Admission tickets are tier priced at $25 and $15 and are available at www.tututix.com.

This holiday favorite promises to be an amazing mixture of young talent as well as professional and pre- professional dancers from Sam Houston State University who are generously donating their time and talent to the production.

“I am amazed at the talent, discipline, sacrifice, excitability and love these dancers have for this 200 year old classic ballet,” said Sheri Glandon, TADA’s co-director of The Nutcracker along with Ana Acevedo.

TADA’s Nutcracker will be a traditional version of the fairy tale staring Clara and her beloved Nutcracker toy, which comes alive and sweeps her away to a magical kingdom populated by dolls. The show will also feature the “musical brilliance” of Tchaikovsky’s score.

“The Nutcracker represents strength and power and also a traditional message of good will according to the German folklore. A girl's dream and the magic of her uncle make The Nutcracker ballet unique and festive for all,” Acevedo said.

In the spirit of holiday giving, TADA’s Director Kristan Ballard has announced that a portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to HOPE – a local charity dedicated to raising money and awareness of Juvenile Batten Disease.

"We are so grateful to TADA for choosing to support HOPE and Juvenile Batten disease research to help save Will and all children affected with this disease," said Missy Herndon, Will's mom and founder of The Will Herndon Research Fund (HOPE). "Just seven years ago, no one had heard of this rare, fatal condition. Thanks to incredible organizations like TADA, in and around The Woodlands community, over $4 million dollars has been raised for research into a treatment that could slow the progression of the disease. This treatment option is undergoing validation studies, with the hopes of being accepted into clinical trial in late 2017 – a feat that would not be possible without our tremendous HOPE family."

In advance of the Nutcracker, TADA will also host the Nutcracker Soiree on Friday, Nov. 18 at the Augusta Pines Golf and Country Club at 6 p.m. This will be a festive evening event for children, and will feature a Land of Sweets meal and a chance to meet and dine with Clara, the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Snow Queen, the Mouse Queen and many more. Tickets are available for purchase at www.tututix.com starting at $35.
