THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Kicking off a series of observances and festivities, Tuesday, October 13th marked the 240th birthday of the U.S. Navy and the original authorization of an American naval force by the Continental Congress in 1775. The commemoration continues with Navy Day on October 27th.

“Fortitude, character and resolve have been the mark of our nation’s military members from the very beginning,” said Charles Stevens, Chief Operating Officer of Global Monetary Reserve. “This is the perfect time of year to think back to the roots of the U.S. Navy and to reflect on its crucial role, during wartime and in peace, throughout our nation’s history.”

Originally composed of a small group of Revolutionary War era vessels—some of them “repurposed” from previous lives as merchant ships—the first-ever American navy was not meant to challenge the British fleet for control of the open sea, but instead served as a strategic force for attacking British transport ships. From these humble beginnings, the U.S. Navy would grow to become the largest and most influential naval force ever to set sail.

The need for small, elite units that could operate beyond the scope of conventional Naval forces led to the creation of the Navy SEALS in 1962. As a member of SEAL Team 3, Chris Kyle served four tours of duty between 2003 and 2009 during the Iraq War, earning two Silver Stars, Five Bronze Stars, and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his valor on the battlefield. He is considered to be the most lethal sniper in U.S. history.

Honoring the commitment and sacrifice of U.S. Navy veterans and Navy personnel serving around the world, Global Monetary Reserve, the nation’s leading precious metals firm, is set to release an official Chris Kyle Frog Foundation commemorative series of precious metal coins and bars that pays tribute to the spirit of honor, duty and service exemplified by Kyle.

Presales are available now through GMR’s fast and secure online ordering system at www.GMRGold.com or by calling 877-795-9585 to speak to a personal advisor. The official release date for the series is this Veterans Day, November 11, 2015.

A significant portion of the proceeds from the collection will directly benefit the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation in its mission to help military members, first responders and their families. “These are unique and lasting gifts that are perfect for anyone with a love of military collectibles,” said Tara Kyle, executive director of the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation. “They’re a great way to hold on to a little piece of history and to honor the memory those who serve.”
