THE WOODLANDS, Texas-- The Woodlands football will travel to Baylor University for a neutral site playoff game against the undefeated #3 ranked Allen Eagles at McLane Stadium on December 1 at 1:00 PM.

After what is being deemed as “The Miracle at the Bank”, the Highlanders advance to the third round of the UIL State Playoffs with their 53-50 win over Cedar Ridge. Kicker Fabrizio Pinton nailed a 55-yard field goal as time expired to keep The Woodlands playoff run alive.

The Woodlands has scored over 50 points in each of their last three contests, including a 66-7 win over Aldine Davis in the first round. In an offense that spreads the ball around to their multiple playmakers, The Woodlands has leaned heavily on the ground game this season. Running back Bryeton Gilford has followed up his 17 touchdown performance from his sophomore year with an equally impressive junior campaign.

With an offense that puts up 50+ points on the scoreboard, the defense can sometimes be overshadowed. There’s no secret where the strength of this Highlander team lies. Jim Rapp’s defense has been stellar all year long at creating turnovers and holding high-scoring offenses in check. As last week’s game against Cedar Ridge transitioned into a classic shootout, it was Ben Langston and the defense creating a last minute stop to set up Pinton’s field goal attempt.

Also coming into Saturday’s playoff game with a hot hand, Allen has won 43 out of 44 games dating back to 2016 and are currently on a streak of 28 consecutive wins. Eagle Quarterback and Ole Miss commit Grant Tisdale leads the Eagles in both passing and rushing, totaling 39 touchdowns. 12 of Tisdale’s scores through the air have been to Theo Wease. Ranked as the top wideout in his class, Wease has signed his letter of intent to suit up for the Oklahoma Sooners next fall.

Allen’s last loss? A 36-28 defeat to The Woodlands back in 2016 in which the Highlanders reached the State Final. Listen for live coverage on The Woodlands Highlanders Football Radio Network
