The Woodlands Christian Academy Raises Over $2 Million Dollars at Annual Auction & Gala

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Christian Academy (TWCA) held its annual Auction & Gala on Saturday, April 13, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. In honor of the school’s 25th anniversary, the theme of the event was “The Silver Ball”. The gala was chaired by Alison and Vernon Veldekens with Woodforest National Bank serving as the presenting sponsor. The agenda for the evening included a silent auction, seated dinner, and live auction bidding for the more than 360 guests in attendance.
The event grossed approximately $2,080,000. These funds will be applied toward furnishing and equipping the newest academic building on the school’s 40 acre campus, a 63,000 square foot high school building which is slated to open this fall.
Consistent with the school’s tradition of naming buildings after biblical heroes, Julie Ambler, Head of School, revealed the name for the new facility during her remarks. “The Micah Academic Center will offer the facilities and programs to inspire Warrior students to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God,” she said. “This incredible space will accommodate the growing student population and provide state-of-the-art science and STEM laboratories, an art studio and gallery, a 500 person, fully equipped auditorium and lecture hall, and 22 classrooms.”
The school’s heritage was celebrated with the unveiling of a new sponsorship opportunity - The Capstone Society. Membership in the Capstone Society is conferred upon those who give at or above the presenting sponsor’s donation. Founding member Richie Ray, of Richie’s Specialty Pharmacy, believes the Capstone Society offers a more meaningful way for donors to leave a lasting impact on the legacy at TWCA. “We believe this is a great opportunity for parents and families to continue supporting Woodlands Christian beyond their child’s graduation,” Mr. Ray explained. He continued, “[my family] has been blessed to be a part of the TWCA community and we are committed to helping them continue providing excellence in Christian education to families in The Woodlands.”
