THE WOODLANDS, TX - Memorial Day is different this year for many of us. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the usual commemorative celebrations and activities that have become time-honored traditions in The Woodlands have been cancelled. It is a difficult time to be apart, when we are usually together at this time of year when we are thanking soldiers who gave us the opportunity to enjoy our freedoms and the beginning of summer.

Although many group activities and celebrations are cancelled, our gratitude for the fallen remains. Without our veterans' sacrifices and service, our country might not have endured prior hardships and difficult moments in our history such as this. Please take a moment today to think of those lost in battle and the families and loved ones they left behind.

We have faith that despite the difficulties facing our nation, state and township today, we will endure. Better days are ahead of us as long as we continue to do our best and persevere.

Thank you to any veterans reading this message today and to any Gold Star family members and loved ones. We appreciate your service and sacrifices on behalf of defending our freedoms and way of life.

Watch a special Memorial Day video message from Township Chairman Gordy Bunch.

The regular Township COVID-19 update will resume tomorrow. If you are looking for information today related to COVID-19, please visit the Township website.

Happy Memorial Day!
