Filing opens July 19 for Township board positions in November election

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Though major election season doesn’t start for a while yet, with Election Day coming in early November, the campaign calendars never sleep. Coming up next weekend is the start of filing opportunities for Township board members.

The Woodlands Township Board of Directors are elected at-large by residents to serve two-year terms. Though there are seven members on the board, only approximately half at a time are up for election. This time around, three at-large positions, designated as positions 5, 6, and 7 are up for grabs on the ballot. Currently holding these seats, respectively, are Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, Dr. Ann K. Snyder, and Cindy Heiser.

To be eligible for placement on the ballot, candidates must meet these specific qualifications: they must be 18 years of age as of November 4, 2025, be a resident of The Woodlands Township for the past six months, be a resident of Texas for the past twelve months, and be a citizen of the United States.

Residents may be disqualified for mental incompetence and / or conviction of a felony.

Candidates may file an application to appear on the ballot for one of the designated positions between July 19, 2025, and 5 p.m. on August 18, 2025. Applications may be mailed to the Township, delivered in person, submitted via facsimile to 281-210-3978, or emailed to elections@thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov. Applications delivered in person are accepted on regular business days during the Township’s office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Candidates wishing to run as a write-in candidate must file a Declaration of Write-In Candidacy no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 22, 2025.
