CONROE, TX - The 5th Annual MOWMC Miles for Meals 5K/10K Walk Run, presented by Team Sinisi Real Estate Group has been re-scheduled from Saturday, February 6th to Saturday, April 17th at B-52 Brewing Company in Conroe.

Family members, friends, and community partners can improve the lives of Homebound Seniors by supporting the Meals on Wheels Montgomery County (MOWMC) Miles for Meals event. New this year is a Virtual Run so even with a limited capacity event, everyone can make their mileage count for seniors like Ms. Peggy, who recently turned 105 and needs home delivered meals.

Vinny Sinisi from Sinisi Real Estate Group said that assisting others less fortunate is how his single mom raised him. “There is nothing more gratifying than to give your time and generosity to those less fortunate. My mom raised two kids on her own. We were not in the upper middle class. Ha. I am not sure we qualified for lower middle class. She would give our “stuff” away and tell us, ‘They need it more than we do’. It’s in my DNA to help others.”

Walk, run, and enjoy the Spring weather by participating in either the 3.1-mile 5K course or the 6.2-mile 10K. Every participant will receive official chip timed results immediately following the race. Event is Rain or Shine! There is limited parking at B-52 and the MOWMC transportation busses will offer shuttle service to B-52 from additional parking areas. Packet pick up will be available prior to the race at the Meals on Wheels office, 111 South 2nd Street in Conroe Thursday, 4/15 12:00pm-6:00pm, and Friday 4/16 9:00am-2:00pm.

The event course winds around Lake Forest Falls neighborhood beginning and ending at the six-acre wooded biergarten, B-52 Brewing Company. Cross the finish line and enjoy this craft beer venue with food trucks serving before and after the race. This is a family friendly event; strollers and leashed dogs are welcome. Children 6 and under are free.

Fabulous swag bags include a tee shirt, Commemorative Pint Glass, and 3 pints of craft beer, homemade root beer or lemonade (dependent on age restrictions). Everyone receives a Finisher medal and competitive awards are given to the top three in each age group. Start your personal fundraising journey and earn perks for each $500 milestone whether in person or virtually.

Seniors need meal delivery service more than ever with the pandemic shutting them inside their homes, often without any interaction from family or friends. MOWMC volunteers bring nutritious food, a friendly face, and a safety check to this vulnerable population.

Since 1973, MOWMC has had a successful track record of delivering meals to local homebound seniors, currently delivering 240,000 meals annually. More than 200 volunteers deliver meals along 83 routes throughout the 1,000 square miles of Montgomery County. Seniors in need of meals are added to the waiting list each week. Additionally, MOWMC’s curb-to-curb transportation service provides more than 17,000 rides to the disabled and seniors annually. With a mission to foster independence and maintain the dignity of each homebound senior by providing nutritious meals, transportation, and caring connections, MOWMC can always use additional volunteers and donations.
