THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County held a Virtual Wine tasting for the community January 21, with ticket proceeds going toward their wonderful mission of seeking to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Participants watched and listened as wine industry legend and owner of Neyers Vineyards, Bruce Neyers, walked them through the backgrounds of three wines: Carneros Chardonnay, Sage Canyon Red, and Left Bank Red Blend. The decadent wines were paired with a delicious charcuterie board provided by CRÚ Food & Wine Bar. Participants picked up the wine and food beforehand so that they could enjoy them from the comfort of home.

A sense of community could be felt through the screen as wine was poured into glasses and donations poured in by patrons. Habitat MCTX had to cancel their Building Hope gala last April, so this event was in support of making that up.

“This pandemic situation has made home more important than ever, a safe place to live, raise your family, to cook…” said Michele Shifflett, Advancement Officer for Habitat MCTX. “Every single one of you is helping us make that a possibility for someone,” she said.

The goal of $10,000 was reached by the end of the night! Donations can continue to be made at habitatmctx.org/donate/. A $150 donation helps them get clearance for permitting to move families into their Habitat homes. $250 helps to put countertops into a Habitat home, while a $500 donation helps to put cabinets in the entire kitchen!

Volunteer opportunities are also available for individuals and groups.

“Thank you so much to everyone who attended the virtual wine tasting to benefit Habitat MCTX. We truly rely on our donors, supporters and volunteers to help us achieve our mission! We are thankful for Jada England, our dedicated volunteer, who helped facilitate this event through her relationships with n2 publishing, Woodlands Online and CRU Food & Wine Bar! Bruce Neyers with Neyers Vineyards was engaging and had wonderful stories to tell. It is an event we hope to do again with our local partners!”
- Michele Shifflett, Advancement Officer Habitat for Humanity MCTX

'We enjoyed bringing Bruce Neyers virtually to The Woodlands and supporting Habitat for Humanity with this fundraiser. Our partner Cru Wine Bar was a gracious host and coordinated the food and wine perfectly.'
- Jamie Bill, Division VP Trinchero Winery
