THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Grand Oaks wasted no time making their presence known in their first-ever 6A district game. The Grizzlies’ bats started hot and stayed hot on their way to a 16-4 victory over College Park.

The Grizzlies scored nine of their 16 runs in the first two innings, including three home runs. Kourtney Bellinger’s RBI double put the first run of the night on the board, then Kaetlyn Dunbar and Allie Hagebusch each cleared the bases with home runs to quickly put Grand Oaks up four runs. Morgan Yaeger’s double brought home Savannah Pemberton, who tripled in the previous at-bat, to put five runs on the board for Grand Oaks in the top of the first inning.

A great Double Play ended the first inning and brought the Grizzlies’ dangerous hitters back out for more. Dunbar and Hagebusch weren’t done dominating as the duo combined for the next four runs with an RBI single and a three-run home run respectively.

Hagebusch added an RBI single in the third inning to complete her impressive 3-4, 5 RBI showing. Carissa Villarreal also went 3-4 at the plate, including her solo blast to center field that put the exclamation point on an outstanding district debut for Grand Oaks.

Despite the loss, Kaitlyn Corn had a good game for the Cavaliers. Corn went 2-3, including a two-run RBI single in the third inning.

Grand Oaks will look to keep the offensive fireworks going at Conroe on Friday, while College Park will try to pick up their first district win at Willis.
