THE WOODLANDS, TX -- This year on August 11, National 811 Day, CenterPoint Energy has presented their Safe Digging Partner award to Tachus. This award is the first of its kind ever given to a utility company in the Houston Area, and was granted in recognition of our construction team’s focus on safety in each project they have undertaken in Greater Houston.

Since being founded in 2018, Tachus has worked to install fiber Internet in several communities in Lake Conroe, The Woodlands, and Kingwood. Because our fiber infrastructure is buried, we and our contractors dig in every community in which we work, strictly following state protocols in the process. Among these protocols is calling Texas 811 and locating all present utility lines 48 hours before beginning work in a jobsite.

Tachus has also been recognized for going above and beyond state laws and guidelines, establishing close communication with other utility companies and taking every possible precaution to ensure the safety of our communities as well as our crews and employees. As a result, our crews have reduced their at-fault utility line hits per month by over 90% over the course of just seven months.

“Tachus is viewed as a safety-minded leader in the excavation industry,” said CenterPoint in their letter of recognition. “Their team routinely exhibits the qualities we admire in our peers working safely around underground utilities.”

We at Tachus would like to recognize everyone in our construction department, as well as our contractors, for working hard to keep residents safe while we build out our fiber infrastructure to their neighborhoods.

Tachus is proud to have earned this inaugural achievement in safety, and will continue to ensure that construction is as safe and uncomplicated as possible for our communities.
