HOUSTON, TX -- Having the proper technology is more important than ever for students looking to better their lives. The Lone Star College TechConnect program offers digital resources such as HP laptops and Apple iPads for students enrolled in the spring semester.

“This equipment is loaned to any Lone Star College student who does not have the resources or means to own it themselves,” said Stephen C. Head, Ph.D., LSC Chancellor. “These devices are provided like a library book and are available to registered LSC students.”

Access to this kind of technology is vital for students in higher education. The U.S. Dept. of Education reports that online learning opportunities and the use of open educational resources and other technologies can increase educational productivity by accelerating the rate of learning.

LSC is also providing free use of Office 365 on compatible personal devices. With Office 365, students have access to the latest version of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and more.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally changed higher education and the tools needed for students to be successful,” said Head. “We remain committed to ensuring we provide the necessary means for students to complete their studies.”

Visit LoneStar.edu/TechConnect to learn more on how to check out a device, access Office 365, apply for FASFA and register for spring semester classes.

Lone Star College offers high-quality, low-cost academic transfer and career training education to 93,000+ students each semester. LSC is training tomorrow’s workforce today and redefining the community college experience to support student success. Stephen C. Head, Ph.D., serves as chancellor of LSC, the largest institution of higher education in the Houston area and has been named a 2021 Great Colleges to Work For® institution by the Chronicle of Higher Education and ranked 35th in Texas in the Forbes ‘America’s Best Employers By State’ list.
