WOODLANDS WEEKEND WEATHER – It's Beginning to Feel a Lot Like Winter

THE WOODLANDS, TX – While we’re only a few short weeks into winter, 2021 for The Woodlands ended with weather that outright mirrored summer months in other, lesser states. Christmas Day was actually shorts-and-tank tops weather. Fortunately, the new year brought with it some transitional weather for those wanting cooler climes. And much like our mail deliveries post-holidays, it got there eventually.

Break out the long sleeves, but leave the parkas in the closet

The transitional temperatures are still in flux. Last night, our low temperature was only a degree above freezing. Tonight, the low will be nearly twenty degrees higher. Today’s high of 58 will segue to a sixteen-degree-higher temp a mere 24 hours later.

Not only will the weekend be warmer, but it will be wetter, too. A chance of thunderstorms will hover around 60-70 percent both days, with highs in the low-to-mid 70s and lows around 51 degrees.

However, the rains will gradually dry out Sunday, and on their heels will come a cold front that will drop everything about ten degrees cooler for the next few days. Monday and Tuesday will be partly cloudy, with highs at 60 degrees and lows in the 40s; not quite heavy coat weather, but still a lot more seasonal than Christmas.

Wednesday will see the sun covered by clouds and temperatures as a result going up to the mid-60s. The clouds will eventually drop to drop some rain on Thursday and Friday, with temperatures in the upper 60s – threatening to hit 70 – and hopefully this will be the last bit of higher temperatures for a while. Next weekend is slated to bring with it lowered temperatures, with highs in the 60s and 40s and lows back into the 40s and 30s.

So far, so good, in regards to hard freezes; however, there’s still two-and-a-half months of winter facing us, and the year is young, so be sure to stay tuned to Woodlands Online for our weekly weather forecast.
