Grammy-nominated Ruthie Foster coming to Dosey Doe - The Big Barn on April 14
THE WOODLANDS, TX – Austin native and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Ruthie Foster is coming to Dosey Doe - The Big Barn on April 14. This enchanting chanteuse is currently on tour in support of her new critically acclaimed album, Healing Time.
For 25 years, Foster has made a name for herself from critically acclaimed bodies of work that have led to numerous Blues Music Awards and multiple Grammy nods, as well as sharing a stage with the likes of Bonnie Raitt and the Allman Brothers. She has been described by Rolling Stone as “pure magic to watch and hear” with her signature blend of blues and soul. Drawing influence from legendary acts like Mavis Staples and Aretha Franklin, Foster has developed a unique sound unable to be contained within a single genre.
Foster’s ninth studio album Healing Time finds her pushing her boundaries as a singer and songwriter more than ever before in her 25-year-career – creating a truly live-sounding atmosphere with the help of her band. Collaborating with powerhouse producers Mark Howard (Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams) and Dan Barrett, these new songs coalesced at Black Pumas co-bandleader Adrian Quesada’s famed Electric Deluxe studio in Austin.
Healing Time aims to serve as a musical balm for the many who have faced trials over the last several years, and it’s also a love letter to Foster’s fans who have said her music is spiritually healing. PopMatters praised the album, saying, “The desire for personal love, secular community, and religious redemption make for a powerful package on Ruthie Foster’s Healing Time,” while No Depression added that the record “showcases Foster’s extraordinary abilities as a songwriter and singer, and her ability to dwell in these songs and climb their emotional registers in her phrasing and control touches us deeply.”
