THE WOODLANDS, TX -- June is Water Safety Month, and The Woodlands Township is committed to raising awareness and promoting water safety throughout the community. Drowning is a real and preventable danger, especially for children. According to the CDC, drowning is a leading cause of death for children ages 1-4, with alarming statistics worldwide.

To bring awareness to this issue, The Woodlands Township Aquatics Division is hosting a series of water safety events in June. Participants will have the opportunity to learn essential water safety skills and receive free mini-lessons to enhance their basic water competency. Swimming lessons have been proven to reduce the risk of drowning among young children by up to 88%.

The 2024 water safety event schedule:

  • June 14: 3 to 5 p.m. at Alden Bridge Pool
  • June 20: 2 to 4 p.m. World’s Largest Swim Lesson Event at Rob Fleming Aquatic Center
  • June 24: 6 to 8 p.m. at Falconwing Pool
  • June 28: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bear Branch Pool

All events are free and open to the public. No pool entry fee is required during the event. The Woodlands Township Aquatics Division encourages residents to take advantage of these opportunities to enhance their water safety skills and protect their loved ones from the dangers of drowning.
