100,000+ Montgomery County residents cast ballots in first week of early voting
THE WOODLANDS, TX – In the first week of early voting in a hotly contested election season, more than 100,000 Montgomery County residents cast their ballots in the first week of early voting last week.
Considering this is a midterm joint election that rarely conveys the same importance as a presidential election, this is a staggeringly high number; 104,054 voters hit the ten early voting polling locations, more than 22 percent of all registered voters in the county. By comparison, 135,565 residents voted the first week of the 2024 Trump/Harris presidential election.
Citizens and residents have stood in line – usually outdoors and typically for hours – for the chance to cast their votes. Of the ten polling spots available, the ones in Splendora’s East Montgomery County Community Development Center and Magnolia’s West Montgomery County Community Development Center are by far the least attended and quickest to vote at. Unsurprisingly, the polls at the Kevin Brady Library in The Woodlands report the largest number of voters by far, with more than 14,400 people showing up this first week alone. Equally unsurprising, this is the location where the majority of the candidates congregate to meet voters and answer questions outside the 100-foot campaign-free buffer zone.
Early voting continues this week through Friday, October 30. Polls are open 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. each day; voters standing in line by the 7:00 p.m. deadline are still allowed to vote. Once early voting ends, voters must cast their ballots at their assigned precinct polling locations on Election Day, November 3.
