A Note from Glen Rector President of The Woodlands Arts Council Board of Directors 2024-2026

It is my honor and privilege to take on the stewardship of The Woodlands Arts Council as your newest President.

My journey with this organization began by proxy. My lovely wife, Gika Rector, was part of the original exploratory committee established in the early 2000s to research creating a fine arts festival in The Woodlands. Like many of you, I got roped into the magic as a volunteer for the first annual Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival. I knew from the first that this was a special event – and I’ve been involved ever since.

You could say the rest is history. Whether I was managing art dash inventory or leading the load-in/load-out of the artists, or taking part on the Board of Directors, the people of The Woodlands Arts Council, our mission to make art matter in Montgomery County, and our continued growth have given me so much over the years.

I frequently walk along The Woodlands Waterway, and as I look at the multitude of art benches – and the first bike rack – and I recall the (18! Can you believe it!) past festivals, I’m amazed at the positive impact TWAC has imparted on our community. All of us can be very proud of our individual and collective contributions.

During my time as your President, it is my hope to invite YOU to take part in our artistic mission in a more inclusive way through our growing programming and events. We have accomplished so much together over the last nineteen years, and I can’t wait to work with you to continue making art matter in new ways in our community.

Below you will find important information about our Microgrant Program, Student Art Scholarship Program, 2024 The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival Applications, and more. We have a busy fall ahead of us!

I want to thank our volunteers, community partners, staff, committee members, and Board of Directors for their support and for making art matter in Montgomery County!

With Warm Regards,

Glen Rector, Board President, The Woodlands Arts Council
