Did the Summer do a number on your skin? Check out these amazing chemical peels by SkinMedica!

The summer may have done a number on your skin! All those vacations, beach days, and outdoor events can leave your complexion feeling sun-damaged, dehydrated, and aged!

When was the last time you had a chemical peel? A chemical peel is a great way to not only improve the appearance of your skin but also to sluff off dead, dull skin and reveal a beautiful, fresh layer underneath.

One of our favorite brands, SkinMedica, has a variety of expert peels that cover a wide range of skin conditions and concerns.

The SkinMedica Peels

  • Illuminize®: If you struggle with hyperpigmentation like sun damage, dark spots, and age spots, the Illuminize® is a great option for you! This peel uses a gentle, superficial formula to help brighten the skin. The Illuminize® works on all skin types by rapidly turning over skin cells, causing significant peeling of the outermost layer of skin and revealing a beautiful, luminous complexion underneath! It works well for mild skin conditions.

  • Vitalize®: The Vitalize® peel is a great option for anyone struggling with fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin texture, or scarring. The Vitalize® contains salicylic and lactic acids combined with a solution that helps to peel the upper layer of skin away. It works well for mild to moderate skin conditions.

Rejuvenize™: The Rejuvenize™ peel is the strongest of the three peels and the best for anti-aging. It penetrates deep into the topmost layers of skin thoroughly drying and agitating the visible layer of skin, causing it to flake away and reveal a younger, healthier complexion underneath. It works well for moderate to severe skin conditions.

Things to Know About Peels

No matter what kind of peel you receive, they all have a few similar traits that you should be aware of before you have your treatment. Here are a few things to keep in mind about chemical peels.

  • Peeling times may vary: While different peels will react to the skin differently, and everyone’s complexion is unique, most peels will start to flake off between 5-7 days post-treatment, and you can expect your skin to peel for about a week, on average.
  • Avoiding sun exposure: It is important to avoid excessive sun exposure for 10 days prior to your peel treatment, as well as for 10-14 days after your treatment.
  • Results will vary: While some peels will give great results after just one treatment, peels often require a series of 3 or more treatments spaced out to receive optimal results.
  • Peels are often the first step: Depending on the condition of your skin, a chemical peel may just be the first step in a larger treatment plan. Peels are great for improving superficial skin imperfections, however, deeper issues may require various other treatments like resurfacing or laser. A series of chemical peels can be a great way to prep your skin for bigger treatments.

No matter what skin conditions you struggle with, our expert aestheticians can create a treatment plan that works for you and your aesthetic goals!
