We are grateful to Howard Hughes and McKesson for inviting the Canopy team to share about the Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center at your Employee Wellness Fair.
Thanks also to Advisory Council member Erin Lucke, Estate Planning & Probate Attorney, for including Canopy in your presentation at Del Webb The Woodlands.
We cherish opportunities to extend survivorship resources and education beyond our walls.

Survivorship Support
Second Cancers After Breast Cancer
Breast cancer survivors may face a number of health challenges. One major concern is the risk of cancer returning or developing a new, unrelated cancer, known as a second cancer.
What is the risk of a second cancer?
-
The most common second cancer is another breast cancer.
-
Survivors may also have a slightly higher risk for cancers of the salivary gland, esophagus, stomach, colon, uterus, ovary, thyroid, soft tissue (sarcoma), skin (melanoma), and blood (AML).
Factors influencing risk include:
-
Genetic mutations (e.g., BRCA1/2)
-
Radiation therapy to the chest
-
Certain chemotherapy drugs
-
Tamoxifen therapy (slightly increases uterine cancer risk but reduces recurrence of breast cancer)
Follow-Up After Breast Cancer Treatment
Regular check-ups and screenings are essential to catch any issues early.
