Celebrating 10 Years of Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center
This July, Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center proudly celebrates a decade of compassionate care, connection, and hope. For the past 10 years, Canopy has provided free integrative services, education, and emotional support to cancer survivors, caregivers, and families—creating a safe space for healing long after treatment ends.
What began as a heartfelt vision has grown into a thriving community rooted in resilience and survivorship. As we mark this milestone, we look forward to celebrating alongside the guests, volunteers, partners, and supporters who have made the last decade possible. Special anniversary events and celebration dates will be announced soon.
A Holiday Season Wrapped in Strength and Community
On December 19, our Canopy community came together for our Annual Holiday Celebration, a powerful reminder that even during life’s most difficult seasons, hope shines brightly. Survivors and caregivers gathered to share stories, laughter, and encouragement in an atmosphere filled with warmth and gratitude.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Canopy team, the Junior League of The Woodlands, the Music as Medicine student musician group, and artist Sean Wilson, who generously donated two abstract Weight of Her Crown pieces to two special guests. Attendees also participated in Bows of Hope, sharing words of encouragement, advice for those newly diagnosed, and reflections on what Canopy has meant to them over the past decade.
Voices of Hope from Our Survivors
“In spite of the scars, missing parts, pain, and feeling alone when you first come to Canopy… once you’re here, you are whole. You’re loved, supported, soothed, and no longer alone.”
— Cancer Survivor
“Surround yourself with people who get it. You’ll find them at Canopy.”
— Cancer Survivor
More Than a Men’s Support Group
Canopy’s Men’s Lunch continues to grow, offering connection, conversation, and support over a shared meal once a month. During the holiday season, the group went a step further by donating toys to children whose parents are facing a cancer diagnosis through the Wonders & Worries partnership at Canopy. Their generosity reflects the deep care and camaraderie that defines our community.
Shining Through Service
At our annual holiday volunteer lunch, we celebrated the staff and volunteers whose dedication and compassion make Canopy what it is. Their service brings comfort, stability, and hope to everyone who walks through our doors. We are endlessly grateful for the hearts and hands that support our mission every day.
A Winter Date Night to Remember
For the second year in a row, Canopy hosted a holiday-themed Date Night for nine couples. Chef JP and the H-E-B partner team prepared a beautiful four-course meal while Canopy staff and volunteers provided exceptional service. This meaningful evening continues to blossom into a cherished tradition, offering couples a chance to reconnect, relax, and feel celebrated.
Gratitude for Memorial Hermann System Human Resources
Canopy was honored to be selected as the 2025 All HR Gives Back Partner by Memorial Hermann System Human Resources. This partnership led to generous donations through our Amazon Wishlist, directly supporting survivors, caregivers, and families served at Canopy.
Director Linda Nelson and Program Manager Marcella Herrera also had the opportunity to share Canopy’s impact with more than 200 HR employees at the Memorial Hermann corporate campus. We are deeply grateful for the continued support and generosity of the Memorial Hermann HR team.
