THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Three boats from Parati Competitive Rowing raced at US Rowing Youth Nationals June 7-9. Crews from 153 rowing clubs across the country came to US Rowing’s venue in Oak Ridge, Tennessee to compete for three days in qualifying heats and finals. US Rowing Youth Nationals is the pinnacle of the racing season for high school aged rowers.

Daniel Dalton and Clay Jones placed 6th in the nation in the Men’s Double, after an amazing semifinals race where they came from behind and pushed through the competition to qualify. Hugo Gomez returned to race at nationals for his third consecutive year. Gomez with partner Blake Eastwick competed in the Men’s Lightweight Double finishing 18th in the nation. John Puzz raced in the Men’s Single competition and took 17th overall. Each course was 2,000 meters.

Dalton, 2013 Valedictorian of The Woodlands High School, will continue rowing in college next year at MIT on their Division 1 Men’s Rowing Team. Gomez, a 2013 graduate of College Park will attend the United States Naval Academy. Jones, Eastwick and Puzz, still high school aged, will return to Parati to race again next year.

Mike Rosman is Head Coach of Parati Competitive Rowing, a coed competitive youth sculling team. Parati practices year round to compete at local, regional and national levels. For more information visit the link below or visit their Facebook page.
