“Ola Amigo,” the owner greets us as my wife and I walk into the restaurant. His broad smile invites us in as if we are truly guests in his home. He claps me on the shoulder and says, “Where would you like to sit tonight?” We select our usual table, and his son comes over and asks if I want my usual top shelf margarita. “Yes please,” I respond with a smile. My wife takes her time to think about it.

Casa Medina - A place that remembers the meaning of service

“No problem.” He smiles.

A young lady walks up and places two ice waters on the table with lemons. A young man follows behind with chips and two salsas. Even though we’ve only been here a handful of times due to our work loads, they remember us as if we’d been to their establishment for the last 10 years. We've been here for less than 5 minutes. It’s 6:00 p.m. and the mariachi has taken up his banjo and begun singing in a clear tenor voice as he does every night of the week. It's a great backdrop for conversation. We smile, contented. We’re both tired from a long week, and it’s a real treat to visit a place that knows the meaning of service.

When the food is brought out, it is piping hot as usual. Here, the servers are always on hand, but never in the way. Our ice waters are never empty, and the owner is always present in the dining room. It is obvious that his intention is to ensure that we feel welcome and enjoy our time. He smiles as he makes his way through the dining room greeting customers and asking if their is anything more he can do.

We’ve been to a lot of restaurants in the area, but Casa Medina is one the best in service, especially for a Mexican restaurant. They have one of the most extensive menus. The food is always served hot. The drinks are always full, and service is just a glance away – well worth a visit. This place is a must try. But be careful, good service can be addicting.
