THE WOODLANDS-- Families from all over Montgomery and North Harris County gathered at Woodforest Stadium to cheer on young, aspiring football players and cheerleaders. The 2017 South County Football League (SCFL) has been around for over 30 years and still holds their annual Super Bowl for junior and senior leagues to compete in. With 515 kids on 30 teams, the crowd buckled down for the face-off between the Dolphins and Eagles. Both teams in the junior division stand undefeated.

With only nine minute quarters, it’s an exciting start as number five, Liam McCarthy scores the first touchdown of the game for the Dolphins as well as the extra field goal points. Strong start to the undefeated Dolphins as they leave the score 9-0.

Number one for the Eagles, Quanell X Jr. makes an impressive count of four stiff arms as he runs the ball to the nine yard line. The Dolphins still lead the score 9-0. With only six minutes left, four yards, and five to go, both teams decide to call a time-out to reevaluate their lineup. Jason Thompson, nicknamed the “Joystick,” outruns the defense line for the Eagles running a 15 yard play.

The second half of the game gets the crowd pumped as number four, Jalen Mickens scores a touchdown for the Eagles and another two points after catching a pass. The score shifts from 9-0 to 9-8. Even though they scored, the Eagles still remain one point below the Dolphins. Brandon Schoggin continuously to block tackles throughout the third quarter. Player of the game, Quanell X Jr. makes the come up again as he brings the eagles flying high over the Dolphins with a touchdown. The final score for the quarter is 14-9 as the Eagles prepare to win their first super bowl.

Dolphins fans still have hopes of winning as Daniel Harrell steals the possession from the Eagles, yet that only pushes the Eagles over the edge as X Jr. makes another touchdown. It is obvious that Eagles coach, Jay Mickens made adjustments during halftime, but the Dolphins can’t seem to keep their offense. The Dolphins score a touchdown by number one, Jason Thompson with only 33 seconds left in the game. Refs on the field make the crowd furious as they call the catch caught by X Jr. as going off-side. The end of the junior games resulted to be 20-15 with the Eagles winning their first SCFL Super Bowl.

The game for the senior league was not quite exciting as the performance of the juniors as the first quarter starts off with Luke Barr misses the pass for the Falcons. Neither the Falcons nor the Seahawks received any points during the first quarter.

Aedan Lewis brings enthusiasm to the crowd as he runs a 51 yard touchdown for the Falcons bringing the score 0 for the Seahawks 6 or the Falcons. Number 12, Jack Combrink hopes to make a touchdown for the Seahawks but runs out of bound. The game is tied as number 11 for the Seahawks, Tice Williams makes a touchdown and the field goal wrapping up the first half of the game 9-6.

The game remains 9-6 as both teams try to earn bragging rights. Both try to score more touchdowns but end up just scoring multiple downs.

Time is an enemy for the Falcons. Seahawks coach, Sammy Marcos calls a timeout to make sure he has the right players line set for the final 1:43 of the game. The night concludes as the score 9-6 remains making the Seahawks earn the title of champions for the senior SCFL Super Bowl.
