Yes to Youth: Montgomery County Youth Services announces new leadership

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- Montgomery County Youth Services (MCYS) has announced staff leadership changes with the promotion of Dannette Suding to the position of Chief Executive Officer and Shelly Owens was promoted to Chief Financial Officer.

Dannette Suding has been with MCYS for over two years. She has served in the role of Interim CEO for five months and was named the Chief Executive Officer in November of 2017. Her previous role as Chief Financial Officer began at MCYS in 2015.

Suding holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Business Administration from Iowa Wesleyan University, graduating Magna cum Laude and received her Masters of Business Administration from St. Ambrose University.

“As CFO of MCYS, Dannette made an impact in the financial health of MCYS,” said MCYS Board Chair Gregory Freede, “Through her leadership and commitment, MCYS is in great shape, financially and I have every confidence in her role as CEO to lead our organization to bigger and better accomplishments.”

Shelly Owens has been named Chief Financial Officer for MCYS. She has been with the agency since 2015 as Staff Accountant. Her prior experience as an Assistant Auditor with Walker County and her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Accounting from Sam Houston State University prepared her for her current role.

Mrs. Owens enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering with her church. Regarding her role at Yes to Youth - MCYS, “Seeing the children and families we serve grow stronger and knowing that we’re providing a safe environment for our residents has been a wonderful and humbling experience.”
