THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Children’s author Sarah Flores will be a special presenter during Storybook Theatre at The Woodlands Children’s Museum Friday, July 27.

After she reads her first book, “Tree Soldier,” at 11 a.m., Flores will sign and sell copies of her book ($17 hardback, $10 paperback) until 12:30 p.m.

“Tree Soldier” is the story of Billy, a little boy who starts to see his parents and siblings in a new light after taking a walk with an enchanted tree.

“We absolutely love the messages that Sarah has woven into her book, beginning with the value of family,” said Angela Colton, executive director of the museum. “This book and its illustrations are wonderful. I know the Storybook Theatre audience will be entranced with Sarah’s presentation.”

When people ask Flores what inspired her to write children’s literature, she tells them she had an epiphany after reading “exactly 7 million books” to her daughter. She realized she wanted to write children’s books that foster conversations about core values like honesty, gratitude and responsibility.

Now Flores is a published author with two children’s books under her belt and a young adult novel on the way.

Along with being a former relationship advice columnist, Flores also is the owner of Write Down the Line LLC, which provides editing and proofreading services.

Storybook Theatre and the meet and greet with Flores are included in the museum’s regular daily admission, which is $6 for visitors age 1 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The Woodlands Children’s Museum is recommended for ages 7 and younger.
