CONROE, TX -- Dr. Curtis Null, Superintendent of Schools sent out to the following email to Conroe ISD Parents and Students.

Conroe ISD Parents, Students, and Community,

When the 2019-2020 school year began, we never anticipated that we would be faced with our present situation. The arrival of COVID-19 brings with it uncharted territory and many unknowns. What is known is that the strength, compassion, and spirit of our students, employees, and community will get us through this.

My pledge is to always make decisions based on what’s best for kids. After participating in daily calls and discussions with State and local leaders along with area school districts and hospitals, I have made the difficult decision to close schools through April 10th with a plan to re-evaluate the situation on April 6th. We are not alone in this decision. School districts across the greater Houston area are communicating this same message to their communities this evening. We believe this step is essential in preventing the wider spread of COVID-19.

With this decision, there are a lot of details to work through, and our District and campus leaders including curriculum and technology experts are working diligently on plans to support the continued learning of our students during this time. We are fortunate to have a variety of resources available to us, and we will be working through the plans on how best to implement them. As we do this over the next few days, we ask for your patience. We want to establish structures that are sustainable while considering the many variables such as home internet access, student devices, and online learning resources.

We will be working to provide answers to the many questions you undoubtedly have. Please visit our COVID-19 webpage for regular updates along with our social media pages. Any major announcement will continue to be shared via our mass communication system as well.

Conroe ISD is described as a community of individuals working together to achieve the best for students. Now is no different. Please take care of yourself, your family, and each other.
