THE WOODLANDS, TX – In early April, The Woodlands Township Board of Directors launched the Help Our Heroes campaign to collect crucial Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs) supplies for local first responders and hospitals.

Thanks to the generous donations of residents, the Township has collected a variety of supplies that number into the thousands for local heroes.

Now, as The Woodlands and Montgomery County plan to re-open, the successful program and its counterpart, Adopt a Healthcare Worker, are transitioning to Interfaith of The Woodlands, where collections will continue.

Beginning next week, donations can be made at Interfaith Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., 4242 Interfaith Way in The Woodlands, TX 77381.

“The supply chain for most items has caught up, and the hospitals and our first responders appear to have adequate supplies at this time”, said Director Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, who is serving The Woodlands Township as Public Health Liaison. “But there is still a need particularly for face coverings and masks for our residents, and Interfaith will be handling the donations for distribution to the residents it has been serving.”

Should the need arise again for PPE for first responders and healthcare workers, Dr. Sekula-Gibbs said the Township could mobilize this program quickly.

The Woodlands Township’s Help Our Heroes program was started when COVID-19 cases began to appear in Montgomery County. Personal Protective Equipment supplies (PPEs) were difficult to order and were needed for first responders and medical personnel.

The community rallied together to help and brought in the following much-needed items:

• Shoe/Hair Covers
• Gloves
• Face Shields
• Masks (homemade, surgical, N95)
• Sanitizing Wipes
• Sanitizer Bottles
• Large Liquid Hand Soap
• Isolation Gowns
• Safety Goggles
• Paper Towels
• Commercial Paper Towels
• Cleaners
• Alcohol
• Empty Spray Bottles
• Powered Air Purifier
• Other

In addition, the Adopt a Healthcare Worker program accepted the following donations:

• Aloe Vera
• Peroxide
• Toilet Paper
• Kleenex
• Bottled Water
• Gatorade/Energy Drinks
• Vitamin C
• Granola Bars/Snacks
• Personal Hygiene Items

The Woodlands Township thanks all who generously donated to this worthy cause and encourages residents to continue efforts to strengthen our community during this challenging time.
