THE WOODLANDS, TX -- I just wrapped up a briefing with the National Weather Service. Forecasters are increasingly confident that Hurricane Laura will make landfall along the Texas/Louisiana border late tonight or early tomorrow morning.

Hurricane Laura is currently a Cat. 4 hurricane and could still intensify. Very dangerous wind and storm surge for our neighbors in east Texas and Louisiana.

Locally we are still under a Tropical Storm Warning. Due to the sheer size of the storm and the extended wind field we are still expecting tropical storm force winds tonight and early tomorrow. Additional rainfall but no flooding is expected.

Widespread power outages are possible and could be prolonged.

Remember we have crews in the area ready to respond to power issues as soon as it’s safe to do so. Please don’t drive around or touch downed power lines.

Montgomery County Emergency Operations Center is activated and ready to respond to any changes or emergencies overnight.

Our call center is open and can be reached at 936-523-3918. If you have a emergency please dial 911.

Next update around 10 pm.
