HS Baseball: Oak Ridge boys take season series vs The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Oak Ridge and The Woodlands split the first two meetings this season with the road team winning each time. Continuing the trend on Tuesday night, it was the War Eagles coming away with the 5-3 win in the rubber match at Scotland Yard. Oak Ridge (8-4 in district 13-6A) clinched a playoff spot with the win.



The War Eagles jumped out to 3-0 lead in the top of the second thanks to a pair of mistakes by the Highlanders. A passed ball scored Azais Garza from third, then an error in the infield on a ball hit by Seth Henry brought two more runs across the plate.

Zach Pine brought the Highlanders back to in the game with an RBI double in the bottom of the third to make it a 3-2 game.

In the 5th, Oak Ridge added a run, but it was only one thanks to some great defense by The Woodlands (8-4) to keep the War Eagles from breaking the game open. Brayden Sharp took advantage of the opportunity with a solo home run to bring the Highlanders back within one in the bottom of the inning.



Aiden Lucas gave Oak Ridge breathing room in the 6th inning with an RBI single, and in the bottom of the seventh, Hunter Wells held the Highlanders scoreless to get the victory.

Oak Ridge hosts Willis on Friday, while The Woodlands goes on the road to take on Grand Oaks.
