THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Texas Crime Prevention Association, are asking communities to remember the roots of National Night Out when planning events this year: to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. Please consider the traditional neighborhood block parties, turn on your front porch light in order to light up the neighborhood and host your events in your individual driveways or community centers. We will have patrol deputies out and about, patrolling the streets and meeting people as we celebrate National Night Out together on Tuesday October 5th this year.

You can’t forget the purpose of National Night Out- it’s not about having huge community events or highlighting first responder’s and our equipment- it’s about getting to know your neighbors along with your local police, and sending a message to the criminals that we are united in our fight against crime! By getting to know your neighbors, you can help protect each other’s homes and neighborhoods by knowing who is around you, thereby enabling you to more easily pick out a suspicious person or activity!
