Montgomery County Food Bank Announces Inaugural Outrun Hunger Event

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- Montgomery County Food Bank announced today its first-ever fun run event, Outrun Hunger. Outrun Hunger's Mardi Gras-themed events include a 5K, 10K, and 1K Second Line Parade. A carnival and vendor fair with face painters, balloon artists, Cajun food trucks and more will be featured at the event. Outrun Hunger will take place Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at The Lake House at Grand Central Park. The Lake House’s address is 1039 Lake House Dr, Conroe, TX 77304.

Currently, over 87,000 people are food insecure in Montgomery County. Outrun Hunger’s proceeds benefit the Food Bank's programs that serve children, seniors, and families in need throughout Montgomery County. Outrun Hunger’s event schedule is as follows:

Saturday, February 26, 2022
• 7:30 a.m. - 5K/10K Onsite Registration and Late Packet Pickup
• 8:00 a.m. - 5K/10K Begins | Mardi Gras Carnival and Vendor Fair Opens • 10:00 a.m. - 5K/10K Awards | 1K Second Line Parade Onsite Registration and Late Packet Pick Up
• 10:30 a.m. - 1K Second Line Parade Begins
• 12:00 p.m. - Mardi Gras Carnival and Vendor Fair Ends

“Outrun Hunger is a fun way to celebrate Mardi Gras, stick to your New Year’s resolution of living a healthy lifestyle, and make a difference in the lives of our many neighbors in need,” said Kristine Marlow, President and CEO of Montgomery County Food Bank. “I hope our community will unite with us in the fight against hunger by participating in the event. Outrun Hunger’s goal is to raise critical funds for the Food Bank so we can continue providing nourishment across the county. For every $1 donated, Montgomery County Food Bank can provide five nutritious meals.”

All ages and runner experience levels are encouraged to attend this exciting, family-friendly event. Pets are also invited to join the 1K Second Line Parade. Additionally, fundraising opportunities are available for participants. The top male and female fundraisers will be crowned “King and Queen of Mardi Gras” and will kick off the 1K Second Line Parade.
