HS Volleyball: College Park Sets Up Win Against New Caney

WOODLANDS, TX -- With the addition of three new schools, the volleyball schedule is packed with new matchups and new home courts. This time New Caney traveled to College Park for a 13-6A matchup.

New Caney was off to huge start, immediately bringing the momentum and leading the Cavaliers in the first set. Although down College Park would recover and make a huge 11-0 run, which gave them a strong lead. New Caney would essentially put three more points on the board as College Park’s offense would cut through their defense.

Much like the first set, New Caney would come out strong in the second, leading College Park. Once they regrouped, College Park would tighten up their defense and let their hitters loose. New Caney would struggle to return the ball which resulted in another run from College Park. In the end the Cavaliers would hold New Caney and take the second set, 25-9.
Using their height and strength, College Park would come out in the third on fire. Once again, they would go on a run, this time 8-0 to give them a strong lead. Although down, New Caney wasn’t out and showed strong defense in the third set. They would have some long rallies against the College Park girls with some incredible saves and digs.

College Park would prove to be too much for the new district team and defeat them in just three sets. The young New Caney looked promising in the final set as their defense tightened up.
New Caney is set to face Caney Creek and College Park is set to face Conroe on Friday night.
