HS Girls Basketball: The Woodlands Falls to Rivals, College Park

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Rivals College Park and The Woodlands faced each other before the holidays in a girls basketball district matchup. Hosted by College Park, the 2-3 Highlanders traveled up the road to face the 3-1 Cavaliers.

In the first, College Park shut out The Woodlands in the beginning of the quarter with tight defense and tough offense. The Woodlands struggled in the beginning but began to heat up as the minutes passed. Nat Ibizugbe would be the score leader in the first as she posted up 7 of the 15 points for College Park. Although The Woodlands had a slow start, they were able to catch up a little bit to go into the second quarter 15-10.

Gracie Garcia with College Park would heat up in the second quarter, sinking down a 3 pointer as well as 3 more buckets from mid-range. The Woodlands would keep it close but still trailed leading into the half, 27-21.



The third quarter was a bit slow for both teams but showcased solid defense on both ends of the court. Ibizugbe would be the sole scorer for College Park with 6 while Strader and Alaniz would also combine to score 6 for The Woodlands.

Going into the final quarter, the Cavaliers shut down the Highlander defense as they kept them to just 3-points. They would increase their lead and end up closing out The Woodlands with a final score of 46-30.

College Park adds another win to their record while The Woodlands looks to turn things around after the holidays.
