THE WOODLANDS, TX --

Girls Basketball

College Park 37, Grand Oaks 33

The Cavaliers used their length on defense to disrupt Grand Oaks and hit some big shots late to come away with the road win. College Park has now won four out of their last five games and currently sit in a four-way tie for first place in the district through three games.

The game’s leading scorers were also stepping up to make clutch plays down the stretch. Kaitlyn Stewart led the Grizzlies with nine points, including a big three-pointer in the third quarter to give the Grizzlies the lead. Stewart also picked up an assist on this great cross-court pass to retake the lead in the fourth quarter.

For the Cavaliers, Ali Diop’s 10 points and Gracie Garcia’s eight points pulled CP across the finish line. Three of Diop’s game-leading 10 points came the hard way. Diop forced a turnover, then finished the layup through contact to complete one of the Cavs’ momentum plays in the second half. Garcia hit two threes in the second half. One to take the lead at the end of the third quarter, and another to extend the lead late in the final minutes.
